The studio may seem like home, but it’s really a public space shared by many students. If you’d like to listen to music, please use headphones so you don’t distract others from concentrating.

“The studio may seem like home, but it’s really a public space shared by many students. If you’d like ” a nice serene sense of space, ” Please limit your self from “TALKING AS IF THERE IS NO TOMORROW”.

I made this photo composition in response to my final project. Diagram represents the study of movement through space.

Privacy and Publicity.

In the essay “Privacy and Publicity” loos interest for smooth and precious surfaces informs his expressed philosophy that ornamentation within interior spaces can have the effect of causing objects to go out of style and thus become obsolete.  His ideas came to be in response to Art Nouveau where artist should work on everything from architecture to furniture, making art part of everyday life.

Page Perhaps surprisingly, Loos’ own architectural work is often elaborately and contradictory.  This contradiction can be seen on many of loo’s work such as the Rufer house, Vienna and Lina Loos’s bedroom. Page 268. Furthermore the spaces of Loos’s interiors cover the occupants as clothes cover the body.  All the Architecture of Loos can be explained as the envelope of a body.  From Lina Loos’s bedroom to Josephine Baker’s swimming pool. As it is mentioned throughout the essay the interiors always contain a “ warm bag in which to wrap oneself.  It is an architecture of pleasure and “architecture of the womb”.

Furthermore it seems that Loos establish a radical differences between the interior and exterior, which reflects the split between the intimate and the social life of the metropolitan being.

Furthermore Beatriz Colomina carefully examines loos’s work by making a peculiar observation that architecture base on loo’s philosophy evolves into what we called modern through its engagement with mass media and by doing this it radically displaces the traditional sense of space.

1) Loos establish a radical differences between the Interior and Exterior of  space. How was this possible?

2) All the the Architecture of Loos can be explained as the envelope of a body. Explain the differences between the two.?

3) Loos was against the application of ornamentation, however many of his design      concepts contradicted his own philosophy.  Explain?

This is how I felt today in class- Arch 416.  Don’t ask me why, but I thought about Spain kicking the crap of the Netherlands. Soccer is a passion for me and ” Our beloved instructor Josh” made one simple mistake in showing us a few  Diagrams relating to the sweet science of “soccer”. :)   and while the whole class pay attention to his preaching, all I wanted to do is ” jump in the air and pull a bicycle kick in front of the whole class…….. The rest is history.
